The seminar ‘Disease Outbreaks: A multidisciplinary approach to preparedness and response’ aims at presenting part of the work carried out by an interdisciplinary research group, which is collaborating with the World Health Organization, and focusing on engineering and design for the Global South. During the seminar, the role of the built environment in the context of preparedness and response will be discussed, stretching the importance of its resiliency to emerging diseases. This will be done by presenting a number of both design projects and theoretical approaches that can contribute to the creation of a healthier built environment within the context of a changing world where climatic, health and humanitarian crisis are increasing.
