FULL (Future Urban Legacy Lab) is an interdepartmental center of Politecnico di Torino that operates in the field of urban and territorial transformations. It analyzes physical, economic, and social transformation processes and provides design visions at different scales to support decision-making.
Thanks to its multidisciplinary community of members, FULL aims to integrate “urban legacies” – which, taken together, represent the anthropic and natural heritage embedded in the territory – into new development visions capable of stimulating debate on the future of inhabited places, promoting discussion on new interpretations of contemporary urban transformation processes.
FULL seeks to merge knowledge of the past and present conditions of territories with the ability to project new strategic visions of the future, supporting dialogue between decision-makers and the stakeholders of these transformations.
FULL relies on a multiple and multifaceted research methodology, reflecting the richness and variety of the scientific fields that make up its community. Its research activities are based on cross-cutting and interdisciplinary methods; collaboration and experimentation; internationalization and comparative approaches; theoretical and practical perspectives.
FULL connects the expertise of different departments of Politecnico di Torino, staff from the University of Turin, and international scholars active in the field, to create a multidisciplinary task force capable of tackling the most challenging “wicked problems” of contemporary urban society.
FULL aims to dialectically reframe socio-technical issues, overcoming the divide between technology and the humanities and fostering the intersection between past and future visions within an experimental approach.
