deteriorating, both in terms of quantity and quality. In parallel, population growth, climate instability, development of life-style and desertification, among other reasons, have resulted in water scarcity in many regions around the world.
Water is also key for food security, thus, water shortage is a major concern for our global future needs. A brief overview of the current water scarcity will be given. As the Middle East is the most water scarce region in the world, some examples and complexities related to this region will be briefly presented as well.
Ideas and potential solutions for better management of our water resources will be explained, mostly with examples from Israel. Lastly, the importance of academia for finding better solutions and technologies will be discussed.
