FULL – The Future Urban Legacy Lab is pleased to announce the next session of the Seminar Cycle: Urban Legacies Between Heritage, Rights, and Innovation, curated by Prof. Carlo Olmo, with a lecture by François Jullien titled Comment être efficace? It will take place at the Salone d’Onore of the Castello del Valentino, next 28th September at 17:30.

François Jullien is a philosopher, Hellenist and sinologist who has deployed his work from the Chinese and European culture. He has developed a new problematisation rather than a comparison, that deconstructs the biases of the European ontology, making it possible to rethink the fields of strategy, ethics, and aesthetics. This intercultural reflection has let him understand the question of the universal without the strings of facile universalism (ethnocentric) and vague relativism (culturalist). He has developed his thinking on a dialogue of the aforementioned cultures based on their differences as promoters of the common instead of on their phantasmal identity point of view. Moreover, he has released a philosophy that moves from that of “Being” to that of the “Other”. He attempts to foil in his conceptual writing the identity of the concept “occult life”, and thereby to develop a philosophy of existence as a resource promoter.

He has got more than 60 publications between books and papers, such as Dé-coïncidence, D’où viennent l’art et l’existence (2017); and some of his works have been translated into more than 10 languages around the world.
