Technological advances now offer new opportunities for managing and mitigating these risks, thanks to the availability of large quantities and varieties of environmental data (portable sensors, drones, radiosondes) and advanced tools for processing them (digital twins, machine learning). In this context, new challenges are emerging in the definition of urban management strategies, focused on the design and implementation of environmental monitoring networks, as well as the real-time management and analysis of data, in order to understand and predict the dynamics of urban systems.&#13;\n&#13;\n<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the event, a summary of the results of the two projects \u2013 DIATI\u2019s ARIA P@LIT@ and LIBRA \u2013 La Biblioteca dell\u2019Aria, supported by the Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo \u2013 will be presented. These projects were developed using an integrated approach that combines laboratory models, numerical simulations and field surveys, with the direct involvement of the public in environmental monitoring through the free loan of sensors.<br\/>A comparison of models, measurements and public participation to outline new strategies for managing air quality and the urban microclimate.<br\/><br\/>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Participation in the workshop is free of charge, subject to registration via the following form (subject to availability): REGISTRATION FORM.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Participating engineers and architects will be awarded 3 CPD points.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The impacts of extreme weather events and poor air quality pose significant environmental risks to the inhabitants of many Italian urban centres, whose vulnerability is set to increase as a result of ongoing climate change.
