Episode 4 – Participation and active citizenship

Participation is actually a spectrum of practices, which are also defined as a “ladder” or “tree of participation” to represent its various forms: from information to citizen consultation, to more active forms of collaboration and greater responsibility in decision-making processes. Listening to the voices of those who want to contribute to tomorrow’s change is useful for achieving the transitions that our cities and territories need.

The body is a channel of transit between space and design: the medium through which design manipulates space. This is the thesis of the book, which develops a critical reading of urban design by observing the way it affects the body. In doing so, it acquires a dimension that goes beyond the individual body, whether sick, healthy, open, measured, scrutinised, liberated or emancipated. It acquires a public, political dimension.
