Andrea Bocco

Andrea Bocco, PhD, is Professor of Architectural Technology at the Politecnico di Torino, and heads the Inter-University Department of Urban and Regional Studies of the Politecnico di Torino and the University of Turin (DIST). He teaches Appropriate technology and low-tech architecture.

He worked in the field of participatory urban regeneration, local development, community hubs, and public space. He founded and directed the Local Development Agency of San Salvario (Torino).

His research and publications deal with, among other topics, Bernard Rudofsky, Yona Friedman, analysis of the built environment, regeneration of mountain villages, as well as ontology applied to the architecture and construction field. During the last decade he has been increasingly focussing on low-tech contemporary architecture, construction with natural materials, and the assessment of environmental impact of ‘alternative’ techniques and lifestyles.

Ha has been part of the steering committee of FULL until 2024.
