Developed between September 2025 and February 2026 by more than 50 international students of the Master of Science in Architecture for Sustainability (MASt), the design studio approached the Bormida as an environmental and social infrastructure capable of connecting landscapes, communities and productive practices. The river was observed not only in its physical and biological dimensions, but also as an archive of memories and as a possible structural framework for new forms of inhabiting, production and (not only human) use of the territory.

Through maps, drawings, models and installations, the exhibition presents the outcomes of research and design proposals that explore the relationships between water and communities, landscape and territorial infrastructures, highlighting often latent potentials and offering a reading of the river as a shared space of design.

The inaugural event will be held on Saturday, 21 February 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Silk Museum of the former Monesiglio Spinning Mill and represents the final stage of a research and project that lasted almost five months, involving over 50 students from 21 countries.

From April 18th to May 3rd, 2024, at the Stanza Verde of Castello del Valentino, in the framework of Biennale Tecnologia, Politecnico di Torino hosts the exhibition RITUALS / MATERIALS curated by Eleonora D’Alessandro with Giulia Massenz and Daniele Campobenedetto. This event offers an opportunity to reflect on the coexistence of diverse religious communities in contemporary cities.

A dense sequence of images and videos – realized by KUEHN MALVEZZI, ARMIN LINKE, Claudia Professione, and Greta Valentinotti – composes a site-specific installation aimed at narrating the genesis and design process of the House of One, a multi-faith building designed by KUEHN MALVEZZI, currently under construction in Berlin. Starting from this case study, which stands as an iconic example of inclusivity, the exhibition aims to explore the role of architecture in promoting interfaith dialogue and fostering encounters between cultures in an era marked by significant global challenges. Set up in the evocative Stanza Verde, currently undergoing restoration, the installation invites visitors to immerse themselves in the project and the ideation process of the House of One, through a journey that invites to rethink ways of coexistence in urban spaces.

The exhibition, supported by Fondazione CRT, together with the Department of Architecture and Design of Politecnico di Torino, and the Inter-university Department of Regional and Urban Studies and Planning of Politecnico di Torino and University of Turin, with the patronage of the City of Turin, Comitato Interfedi, and Centro Interculturale, represents the second stage of a process started in Rome in June 2023, at the former Mattatoio di Testaccio, Department of Architecture (Roma Tre).

In its Turin edition, the initiative includes an extensive program of collateral activities devised in collaboration with Biblioteche Civiche di Torino, Rete delle Case del Quartiere, Benvenuti in Italia Foundation, and Orme Cultural Association, aiming to stimulate active debates on the themes of dialogue and peace in the territory.

Conceived to accompany Biennale Tecnologia 2024 with the intention of depicting a series of realist utopias, the exhibition brings together emblematic images that suggest various possible futures. The narrative crosses many fields of knowledge, thanks to the now permeable boundaries between scientific and humanistic disciplines, in order to interweave the reconstruction of the past, the description of the present and the imagination of potential scenarios to come.

There are four paths, complementary and never alternative, each identified by a keyword characterising a potential definition of the future: ecological, productive, digital, accessible. Along these paths are presented investigations and proposals, intuitions and good practices on which polytechnic research is confronting in order to sift through hypotheses and find solutions that, every day more and more, succeed in designing and building scenarios where nature, technology and society find peaceful, inclusive, equitable and sustainable ways of living together.

The exploration of such futures cannot be constrained in unambiguous trajectories, but must be able to rely on the ability to make logical, geographical and temporal leaps that are often very significant. Visiting does not allow for reassuring positions, consolidated on commonplaces, but rather invites one to open one’s mind to horizons that are always new, different, unexplored, sometimes still completely unknown. This can only happen if one considers the presence of the one red thread that guides the visitor through the tour, given by the strategic role that research plays, inside and outside the universities. Polytechnic cultures create and/or face new challenges on a daily basis, destined to produce realities that today can often only be guessed at.

A protagonist on the international academic scene, the Politecnico di Torino draws on the knowledge and experience of scholars and scholars who live day-to-day in teaching, research and technology transfer, to be represented here through evocative images that highlight the interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary approach of a university that is increasingly sensitive to seizing opportunities, developing knowledge, building techniques and governing advanced processes.

Unveiled Places

I luoghi accolgono, ricordano, ascoltano… A volte si svuotano e poi vengono dimenticati.
Questi sono gli spazi da riscoprire e riempire di nuove storie.
Torino offre numerosi siti che chiedono di essere visti e guardati sotto una nuova luce e gli occhi di chi questa città la vive stanno imparando a capirne le possibilità.
Circa 650 mila sono i metri quadri su cui la città può investire, rappresentando così un’opportunità di sviluppo e di rigenerazione urbana. Sono numerosi i progetti pensati per queste aree che stanno prendendo forma.
I luoghi individuati in questa mappa rappresentano solo una piccola parte di un ricco potenziale, ma sono realtà che identificano quello che è stato e che è il volto di Torino, una città che ha accolto le attività di grandi aziende, di preziose ricchezze urbane e architettoniche, di università innovative, una città rispettosa dell’ambiente e attenta alle necessità dei cittadini. È da questi spazi che bisogna ripartire: questa infatti è la meta verso cui ci si sta muovendo da più direzioni, perseguendo un intento comune e condiviso.

Unveiled Places è una grande mappa che disegna la città intera utilizzando carte differenti, tagliate e marcate a laser, per rappresentare le aree verdi e i corsi d’acqua che la circondano, i monumenti, gli edifici e il reticolo di strade che l’attraversano.
L’installazione si completa quando il visitatore interagisce con l’opera, scoprendo, grazie al proprio smartphone e ad una tecnologia interattiva, quali sono i luoghi da riscoprire e reinventare.

Martina Zena was born in Sant’Agostino, the valley in the heart of the Emilia-Romagna region. At present, she is based in Milan.
Following a classical background, Martina studied at the Academy of Fine Arts of Bologna. Her staying at Fabrica (communication research center of the Benetton Group) was then crucial for experimenting and growing professionally, together with a multidisciplinary and international team. The experience highlighted her passion for hybrid forms of expression.

Martina Zena è nata a Sant’Agostino, la valle nel cuore dell’Emilia-Romagna. Attualmente vive a Milano.
Seguendo una formazione classica, Martina ha studiato all’Accademia di Belle Arti di Bologna. La sua permanenza a Fabrica (centro di ricerca sulla comunicazione del gruppo Benetton) è stata quindi cruciale per sperimentare e crescere professionalmente, insieme a un team multidisciplinare e internazionale. L’esperienza ha messo in luce la sua passione per le forme espressive ibride.
